Hello all! It's been a busy few months for me and a quiet lull for the Chickenfox. Call it hibernation?
This semester is my Masters Final Project (more commonly known as THESIS *dramatic thunder*) and my last few months of graduate school.
Despite the massive importance of this final project, we're being encouraged to not live 24/7 in studio, and to do things outside of school... which is a nice change, as usually they want every drop of our lifeblood.
As such, the Chickenfox should be resurfacing within the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for new art here and on the official Chickenfox Studios website (where there are hundreds of images that I have not and will not upload to DeviantArt because I don't want to spam you all)
Updates on me, personally?
I started playing Ukulele in October and love it a lot! It's the only instrument I have been able to sing along with and that makes all the difference to my actually practicing!
Last January I made a resolution to stop drinking as much soda (after 27 years, my teeth can't handle that much sugar anymore), and have since then successfully cut all soda out of my daily routine, which I am very proud of! Now I only get Coke when it's in a mixed drink.
On the flip side, my appreciation of all things alcoholic has increased... whoops.
Will and I are still in Minnesota until we finish up the school year and get set loose into the wind! We've had a pretty chilling winter this year, with the "Polar Vortex" giving us several too-dangerous-to-go-outside days and many feet of accumulated snow. We've grown so used to the cold that we consider -2ºF a "nice" day, and we're not even FROM here.
One of our fish tanks got a bad case of pescine tuberculosis (dirty little secret of the hobby aquarist community, apparently) this summer and we had to "nuke" the tank. Also this summer we grew a massive balcony garden full of vegetables, and bought praying mantis eggs to patrol all the plants for aphids. In October, some of the plants came inside for overwintering, and we found one mantis who stayed loyal. He now lives in the empty aquarium tank, and has initiated a love for everything mantis. He has an heir apparent in form of a baby Ghost Mantis we bought in January. I had to start a side blog on Tumblr just for mantis photos. We need help.
Here's to a happy and exciting new year!
